Overview

Conventional SLs have a tendency to slip, cause the lung to be deflated for longer periods of time, and require the use of a bronchoscope. Many are not maneuverable, which limits accurate placement and positioning.

Conventional DLTs may be problematic when used during emergency or (anticipated) difficult intubations. They cannot be used in patients with a small trachea or when tracheal lesions or masses are present. Patients who have been intubated with DLTs require postoperative ventilation and swapping to an SL tube.

The VivaSight-SL and VivaSight-DL ETs with integrated high-resolution imaging overcome these challenges.
